	Description
WWF-Hong Kong's signature fundraising event, 'Walk for Nature', will be held on 22 and 23 November 2025 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Mai Po Nature Reserve. This year's event, themed 'Born and Bred Local', invites the public to embark on a full-sensory '10,000-step journey' into the four core habitats within the reserve - the intertidal zone, mangrove forest, traditional fishponds, and rehabilitated rice paddies. Using their senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste, participants will be able to experience the vitality of the wetlands and explore stories of human-nature coexistence. The event combines nature exploration, environmental education, and interactive elements, offering participants the chance to witness the spectacular migration of birds and the lush greenery of the mangroves, as well as engage in various interactive experiences and workshops to delve deeper into the Mai Po wetlands, creating their own natural memories while protecting this beautiful environment.
"Born and Bred Local" Connecting with Nature Through Walking
The 'Walk for Nature 2025' aims to promote nature conservation and environmental protection through fundraising and educational activities. Participants will have the opportunity to enter the unique habitats of Mai Po, observing migratory birds, mangroves, and diverse wetland wildlife up close. Through guided tours and educational sessions, they will learn about the importance of wetlands for climate stability and biodiversity, as well as sustainable living practices to minimize environmental impact. This year's event particularly emphasizes community and family inclusivity, encouraging people of all ages to join in and experience the significance of conservation in a fun and engaging way, raising awareness for wetland conservation and biodiversity.
Enhance Your 'Walk for Nature' Experience Uncover the Deeper Stories of the Wetlands
To enrich the participants' experience, this year's event features a range of value-added experiences and exclusive activities that delve deeper into the fascinating world of the Mai Po wetlands. The 'Bridge Tour' allows participants to walk on the intertidal zone bridge for a close-up view of the mangrove ecosystem, while the 'Paddy Field Tour' invites them to don waterproof gear and venture into the rice paddies of Mai Po to understand the challenges and wisdom of coexisting with nature. Additionally, there will be several small workshops on the day of the event, including a clay bird-making workshop, face painting, and the creation of personalized name tags using local wood laser engraving, suitable for families to enjoy together. Participants can purchase tokens in advance for these experiences and catering services, with special discounts offered when buying more than one token. Spaces for the guided tours and workshops are limited, so advance booking is recommended.
